TOGETHER, WE CAN BUILD INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICE
Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King, and Yolanda Renee King are building a movement, Realizing the Dream (“RTD”), continuing the legacy, to unite communities across America and the globe by accomplishing 100 million hours of service, equating to over $3 billion of social value, for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yolanda’s grandfather, the iconic doctor Martin Luther King Jr.
Clara Wu Tsai, the co-owner of the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Liberty, the San Diego Seals, and Barclays Center, will receive from the King Family the Dreamer Award. This award is given to a select number of extraordinary individuals across the country who have done inspiring work to create a more just and equitable world. During the game, the King Family will present the Dreamer Award to Clara Wu Tsai with a Call to Action encouraging individuals to participate in local service opportunities.

GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES
Good Shepherd Services is a nonprofit agency with more than 85 programs that serve over 30,000 youth and families across New York City. GSS will need volunteers during National Mentoring Month in January and Economic Mobility volunteers in February.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?
Volunteer as a mentor during National Mentoring Month (January).
A mentor serves as a consistent and caring adult, friend, confidant, and trusted advisor to youth participants, assisting participants develop positive relationships with adults.
Requirements – Mentors must agree to complete all clearances, including medical screenings, state-wide central registry check (SCR), Staff Exclusion List (SEL), fingerprint clearance, and a background check.
Mentors must participate in the program orientation and training, while committing to be active volunteers for at least one-year.

Take the Economic Mobility pledge and volunteer (February)

BROOKLYN BOOK BODEGA
Brooklyn Book Bodega increases the number of 100+ book homes in Brooklyn. Parts of the Brooklyn community are book deserts, with low access to books. Books are an unaffordable luxury for some New Yorkers and the organization aims to level the playing field for all youth to enjoy reading books.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?
Get involved with Brooklyn Book Bodega by volunteering at the Book hub as family, or individually during Book sorting/stamping and Book pickup/delivery.

CHIPS (COMMUNITY HELP IN PARK SLOPE)
Founded in 1971 to offer sustenance to our community, CHiPS is now a full-service soup kitchen and food pantry open six days a week, as well as a home for expectant single mothers.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?
Special volunteer projects such as: Food Rescue (collect extra food from local establishments to donate to CHiPS), Communications specialists/writers & Administrative support.
Other volunteer roles include assisting with food prep, packing/distributing meals during breakfast and lunch. Roles include Food Service, Receptionist (Female Only), Organizer, Guest Survey, Breakfast/Lunch Shift Leader, Kitchen Opener/Chef Assistant.
Interested volunteers must fill out the volunteer interest form and attend orientation within a week of signing up. Volunteer hours are 8:30am-2pm Monday through Saturday with shifts being 3 hours.

SCO Programs (Family of Services)
SCO Family of Services offers support to families through after-school programs, recreation, employment services and counseling. SCO has over 84 programs serving over 50,000 New Yorkers annually.
How to Get Involved?
Volunteers support the operation of soliciting ,receiving, and organizing donations; managing inventory; and distributing merchandise.
Volunteers also beautify program campus by planting flowers or painting. These opportunities are customizable and on-going.

The Campaign Against Hunger
TCAH has participated in the fight against food insecurity, economic inequality and health disparities that have plagued our community since 1988. They serve on average over 20 million meals annually, and provide other programs/services in New York City.
How to Get Involved?
Super Pantry (Brooklyn)
Hours: Monday – Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm
Project Tasks: Help clients with food selections, learn food points system and restock pantry shelves & fridges.
Food Distribution (Brooklyn)
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm
Project Tasks: Packing groceries, packing birthday kits for schools, bagging/labeling laundry detergent and palletizing food for distribution.
